Power Washing

Dirt, pollution, and other contaminants can prevent paint from adhering properly to exterior surfaces. The first step to any exterior painting project is power washing. We carefully remove dirt, mold, mildew and loose or peeling paint without damaging surfaces. In most cases, soaps or chemicals are unnecessary. For very dirty surfaces, we may need to pre-treat the surface with chemicals. We understand that the health of your family, pets, and landscaping are important to you. So if we feel chemicals are needed, we will inform you of the risks and include the specific types of chemicals and the reason for their use in our proposal.

Scraping and Sanding

We perform a full evaluation of your home’s exterior surfaces. The condition of your existing paint or stain determines the amount of surface preparation. Although power washing usually removes some loose paint, most exteriors require some scraping and sanding to remove all loose paint. At Premier Painting and Design Inc., we use a combination of techniques to achieve the best results.

Covering and Protecting

At Premier Painting and Design Inc., we understand the importance of protecting the areas in your yard that you DON’T want painted! Protecting these surfaces from paint spatters and over-spray is an important part of the preparation process.

When necessary, we will move toys, planters, and decorative items from the work area. Items that remain are covered with thick plastic sheeting or dropcloths. Driveways, sidewalks, decks and patios are protected with heavy canvas dropcloths. If using spray equipment, windows and doors are covered with masking paper or plastic film.

Priming and Caulking

Not all areas require primer. If the underlying paint is in good condition, we will apply the new paint directly over the old. If priming is necessary, we will apply the highest quality, stain-blocking primer that is best suited for the surface to guarantee proper adhesion.

After priming, we fill gaps and cracks where necessary with elastomeric caulk before painting. Properly sealing these areas prevents moisture penetration, reduces drafts and heat loss and prevents pests from entering your home.

Applying the Topcoat

Premier Painting and Design Inc. applies two coats of top quality exterior paints for all projects. The opacity and heavy pigmentation of quality brands allows maximum coverage with fewer coats. Depending on job conditions, we will determine if the paint should be applied with brushes, rollers or a sprayer to ensure maximum coverage, durability and beauty.

Windows, Doors, Trim and Shutters

Windows, doors, trim and shutters are painted with careful attention to detail. We apply two coats of top quality enamel paint with brushes, rollers or sprayers that will harden to a smooth and durable finish.
